Putin Replaces Russia's Defense Minister Sergei Shoigu with Civilian Andrey Belousov

Russian President Vladimir Putin has replaced Defense Minister Sergei Shoigu with civilian Andrey Belousov, citing rising military costs and the need for innovation. The change was announced by Kremlin spokesperson Dmitry Peskov, who mentioned that Shoigu will now serve as Secretary of Russia's Security Council and become Putin's deputy in the Military-Industrial Commission. Belousov, who previously served as first deputy prime minister, was chosen due to his leadership experience and economic background. This change in personnel has been linked to the need for innovation and the rising military budget, which is approaching levels last seen during the Cold War.

It's time for Shoigu to take public transportation when traveling abroad, or he might get a crash course on air defense and suffer the same fate as the infamous Hot Dog Guy.

By appointing a civilian to replace Shoigu, Putin is essentially taking on the role of Defense Minister himself.
