Power company's equipment likely ignited Texas wildfire, officials say

Multiple news sources report that power lines owned by Xcel Energy are believed to have ignited the largest wildfire in Texas history, as well as another nearby blaze. The Smokehouse Creek fire, which burned over 1.1 million acres of land, resulted in two deaths, the destruction of homes, and the loss of thousands of cattle. While Xcel Energy has acknowledged its equipment's involvement in the ignition of the fire, the company denies negligence in maintaining its electric lines, despite facing lawsuits alleging the contrary.
