Israeli Prime Minister orders evacuation plan for Rafah ahead of expected invasion

Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu has ordered the military to prepare a plan to evacuate civilians from Rafah in Gaza as an expected Israeli invasion looms. The densely populated city is currently home to hundreds of thousands of people who have fled fighting elsewhere in Gaza. The move comes after heavy international criticism, including from the U.S., of Israel's intentions to enter Rafah, which is considered the last remaining Hamas stronghold in the region. The operation poses challenges as it remains unclear where civilians can go, and concerns have been raised about the impact on humanitarian aid and the already dire living conditions in Gaza.
