House Republicans Refer Hunter and James Biden to DOJ for False Statements to Congress

House Republicans, leading an impeachment inquiry into President Joe Biden, have referred his son, Hunter Biden, and brother, James Biden, to the Department of Justice for potential criminal charges. They allege that both men made false statements to Congress during their respective interviews earlier this year regarding their business dealings and Joe Biden's involvement. The referrals, however, do not obligate the Justice Department to pursue charges and are largely symbolic at this point. Democrats have criticized the move as a last-ditch effort to distract from the failed impeachment inquiry and a politically motivated attack on the Biden family.

It's ridiculous that they're claiming false accusations because they couldn't find any concrete evidence to justify impeachment. I'm also curious about the huge financial burden this whole ordeal has placed on taxpayers.

Should the committee members be held accountable for potential defamation?

The 60-page letter from the Chairmen is a desperate attempt to divert attention from President Biden's exoneration by making unfounded accusations against his son and brother based on their efforts to recall old financial transactions, text messages, and conversations during this lengthy and pointless investigation.
